Slabs and Driveways Around Effingham
Effingham is not a town with a main street so much as a community spread along US 52 south of Florence, where the road runs past fields, pine woods and houses set well back from the pavement. Properties are bigger than in town, driveways are longer, and most homes have a workshop, a pole barn or a carport somewhere behind them.

Those are the jobs that bring us out here: long driveways that have broken up near the road, shop and barn floors, pads for equipment, and the concrete around a home that has simply worn out.
Pouring around the weather
Effingham gets the same weather as the rest of the Pee Dee: a long hot summer, heavy afternoon storms, and plenty of rain spread across the year. On open country lots that rain has nowhere obvious to go, so we look hard at grading. A driveway that sheds water into a ditch will last; one that sits in a low spot will settle.
In the warm months we pour early. A slab placed at sunrise has time to finish and start curing before the afternoon heat, and before the clouds stack up. We keep curing compound and covers on the truck and move the date rather than gamble with a storm.
What we pour around Effingham
Slabs are the bread and butter out here: shop floors, pole-barn floors, garage slabs and pads for tanks, generators and equipment, built thick enough for what will sit on them. If you want detail on how we size those, read through the slab and shed pad work.
Driveways come next. A long country drive is often gravel with concrete only near the house or at the road, and the concrete section is the part that fails first, usually where trucks turn. We can replace that section, extend it, or pour the whole run; there is more on what goes into a long driveway if you are deciding how much to pour.
We also pour walks, back patios, porch slabs and steps, and replace concrete that roots or settling have broken. On a country lot the house concrete is often the oldest on the property, poured when the home went up and never touched since, so a walk or stoop that has sunk or split is worth looking at while we are out measuring a shop floor. Doing both in one visit saves a second trip and a second truck.
Road access and permits
Effingham sits in unincorporated Florence County, so building questions go to the county rather than a town hall. A driveway that ties into US 52 or another state-maintained road falls under the state transportation department, which wants its own say on aprons and culverts. We check which roads and which offices apply to your property before we pour anything near the road.
On the property itself, access is usually easy, but soft ground after a wet week can stop a concrete truck partway down a long drive. We walk the route during the estimate and plan around it.
Nearby towns
From Effingham we run south toward Lake City and north to Florence most weeks; we pour plenty of slabs and drives around Lake City as well. Timmonsville and the farms to the west are an easy drive too. We pour across Florence County and the nearby Pee Dee towns, from Darlington and Hartsville to Lake City and Marion.
